November in Casa Grande

Published on 10 November 2025 at 22:42

We made it to our final destination for the rest of November

This is the last stretch of road before we got into the town of Casa Grande. More significant for us than any of you.

This is our site, not quite set up yet. We had to take lots of breaks, it was well above 30 today

Note where Ken is sitting, he got shat on by a bird sitting in the tree                                                                            Showing off the shit

Pretty much set up now, still need to get the Gazebo set up which will go behind the table a little to the left, quite a bit of room over there.

Will explore a bit more tomorrow and show you a bit more of our new home for a bit.

Not too many pictures as we settle into our new routine, there are 2 pools and a hot tub here. There are water volleyball and water aerobics, among other activities

There are about 30 cottages available for rent here as well.                                                                   Not sure if these are about to bloom or already ended.

I guess we'll find out as time goes on

We do have thoughts about going on some day trips and we will definitely post anything new. Otherwise we will not post the same shot over and over again

November 13

Yesterday was a day of getting organized, we played some pickleball, got some groceries etc

Today we went for a bike ride, rode through some nice neighborhoods.

Sorry couldn't help but take some pics of all the flowering shrubs.

Oh Oh, flat tire, I guess he's walking the rest of the way home

luckily we were not to far from home.

Tomorrow we are going to start a pickleball league, at least that is what we think is happening. Wish us luck.

We did play pickleball and did fairly well. We also had a swim and lounged by the pool for a while, chatting with some of the other folks staying here.

November 15 - Today was a golf day, had a such a good day, forgot to take pictures so only a couple

I did not know that there were cotton fields down here. We pulled over and jumped a little canal (with Ken's help) walked closer so I could touch them. They do feel like a puff of cotton and they do have thorns. They have machines to pick the cotton now.

November 18 - Yesterday we golfed at a municipal course called David White, nice park and pickleball courts included. Here are some pics of the golf course. I think we like this course better. and much closer to our trailer.

During our walk tonight, we are starting to notice a few more trailers getting decorated for Christmas

Today we got some rain and cooler weather today, so a good day to get a few things done.  Didn't mind the cooler weather.  Earlier today we had to get Ken's bike tire fixed... again. I went to the gym and did some baking this afternoon.  Ken worked on a few things around the trailer.

November 20

Yesterday we went into Tucson and explored a bit but mostly did some Christmas shopping

Today we golfed another new course. This is a par 3 course and we had to walk. It was a great little course, we ended up tied at 6 over par.

Just a well manicured course with some fun and beauty scattered through out.

Ken helping the foxes keep the birds off the course.

Great day to walk 18 par 3's. We will be coming back here again. Great way to keep your short game tuned up

Had a beer with one of our neighbors that are from Spruce Grove. They have been coming here for a few years.

Tomorrow is another pickleball day. I think we are getting a bit better.

Few more players in the park since last week so hopefully we can keep up.

November 22

We had a great time playing pickleball yesterday, the teams were switched up after every game. I'll have to remember my camera on Tuesday and get some pics of the gang here.

It started raining later in the afternoon today, so we decided to play some pool.

Got the balls racked up and ready to go

Ken ready to play with his pal Jacky Gleason

I have to say neither one of us is very good at this game. Wonder if we will get any better by the time we leave here. Can't get any worse.

November 23

Started our day having brunch at the community center

Below is biscuits and gravy. First time trying this for both us. Just like the name says, cut open a biscuit and pour a bunch of gravy over it. It doesn't taste bad if you can get past the heart attack on a plate.

had to go for a walk after breakfast and found the dog park somewhat flooded after yesterdays rain

We came across this abandoned mall. I think this is the place Neilla was telling me about. It is creepy. You could film a spooky movie here.

Pictures of the sun setting over the trailers, I took while making supper.

Ken got back to the table before the rest of us

In the afternoon, we went for a bike ride and found the canals. The canal eventually turned towards the mountains which we will follow another day. We had no idea how far into the mountains we would have to go and we had already been biking for over an hour so decided we should head back

Anyone want to buy a cow hide from a guy in a bus?

These were interesting trees. The green bark was unusual

November 24

The rain has stopped. Apparently they had 6" of rain here this season where they would normally only get 1".  We are now having some good weather. We  went golfing at a golf course called Francisco Hotel and Golf Resort. Another nice course, played with a couple of fellows from Winnipeg.

The hotel you can see in the background has a story about John Wayne. Apparently he owned a ranch aways from here so most of his western movies were filmed in the area and he stayed on the top floor of this hotel during filming.

November 25

Another nice day, which we can't get enough of...

It was a pickleball day so just a couple of shots of some of the games this morning

November 26th

As Thursday is a holiday here and everything is closed, and I mean everything, no fast food places, no grocery stores, not even Walmart, We had a Thanksgiving dinner here at the park on Wednesday. It was really good, except the green beans...

So the 4 couples from Canada went for some Mexican food tonight at a great place called Su Casa Mexican Gril. It was soooo good.

I can't believe I'm posting pictures of food but there it is, a pic of our US Thanksgiving meal. Everyone brought a desert so there was a massive variety of desserts to choose from.

Some of the crowd. And as it turns out we sat with 3 couples from Canada.

November 29

The last few days we have been getting into more of the norm. Playing golf, playing pickleball. Going to the pool.

making guacamole and salsa right at our table

and more pictures of food

December 2

continuing pickleball and golfing...

last night we had some people over for a fire pit to roast marshmallows in our gazebo

Today we went to the Airport Tavern (nowhere near the airport) for happy hour and Taco Tuesday. The sign walking into the tavern said "this is a dive bar with a cook house". I'm sure the cookhouse was an old food truck with the truck part cut off. The food was great and the entertainment was entertaining, which was karaoke, and no shortage of people wanting to belt out a tune. No shortage of characters.

December 5

No snow...decorate a cactus

Went for supper last night with a couple we met, great fun

Look at the size of those margaritas glasses. It was a lot....
