California...again

April 1st - Back in California...

Huge sticker shock, knew gas prices were going to be high here, but $6.99 a gallon is....

But before we got to California, we left our rest stop last night and we took a less traveled route, relaxing and decent roads

In Parker we took a little detour to visit this Black water resort and we're glad we did, great little beach and camping area

Saw a lot of these dairy farms, a lot.

That's the Colorado river, and on the other side is California, which we get to in a bit, but first we explore the area a little more.

Even the Canadian geese need a nice place to rest

Nice little pub on the water...

Great little spot to have some yogurt and berries

And now we're back on  the road, you guessed it, to California

Driving over the Colorado River

This is, perhaps, not the best Harvest Host facility we have stayed.

Winds gusting to 60 km per hour is also putting a damper on the place.

But we have a full moon

April 2nd - The winds were so bad during the evening, when it got calm around 3 in the morning we decided to make a run for it and get some miles down the road

At around 5 am we stopped at this truck stop to catch a few zzz's. when we woke up around 8, this is what we awoke to.  Wind gusts to 70 km per hour.

After a couple of hours,  we did decide to forge on. The weather didn't really allow us to stop and enjoy some of the sites and activities along the way

lots of wind turbines and solar. They use up a massive amount of landscape.

The destination in Bakersfield is well worth it. Nice to be amongst the grass and trees. Staying at this golf course, Links at River Lakes Ranch, in this great area for a few days.  I know you have been missing the golfing pictures.

April 4th - I did say we were going to be golfing the last couple of days...

It's nap time on the course for these guys

The course had lots of water and bunkers

April 5th - Rode our bikes over to the Kern River trail system (about 30 miles long) and spent the day exploring

We got hungry so we stopped at this Roadhouse for a late lunch

Lots of folks spending easter Sunday at some of the parks along the way

By surprise we came across another park, hosting a car show, here are a few of the highlights. There were lots of very nice cars there.

A few cars put on a show, bouncing them up and down. Also caught this guy on film.

Last day here, leaving tomorrow for Sequoia National Park.
