Driving to Sequoia National Park
Lots of grape vines and orange trees and olive trees
Look at all the oranges on the ground
some great views along the way
Ken's manly pose...
Our campsite for the next few days. Right along a nice little river.
This area is the swimming hole, water is a tad cold.
Didn't expect to see a massive turkey on the side of the road, and there were a few
April 7th - a couple of hikes we took today
A few pictures on the drive up to see the big Sequoia trees. The road was so narrow and windy, you can see part of the road on the Nav Sys. There are lots of times when you could see the road ahead 3 levels higher up the mountain
This was a fairly easy hike, about a couple hours
This tree got so badly burnt but still has life up at the top
Maybe wasn't the smartest thing we did but after a bite to eat, we went on another hike
little more challenging, much longer, with more rocks and hurdles like snow, rocks, fallen trees to get around...
All to see this waterfall.
We were both hurting by the time we got back down to the bottom,
But we did get to see this little guy -->
The General Sherman Tree is the biggest
A few pics along the hike, it is so much more beautiful than the pictures can show
The middle pic with Ken and I is the Presidents Tree, another one of the biggest, the one right below that is the McKinley Tree, also one of the biggest.
Ken is standing in front of a group of trees called the House
Im in front of a group of trees called the Senate
The views up top were so amazing, but this pictures don't even come close.
April 8th - Happy Birthday Ken
Started the day going for a bike ride - Ken led us up this country road and it turned out to be an amazing ride
What a great ride. We had the river beside us most of the way, so nice to hear the sounds of the rapids as you ride along.
We saw a beautiful grey squirrel but he wouldn't stick around to let me get a picture.
We also saw a real live rattle snake on the road. Didn't want to get close enough to get a picture
The afternoon we spent at the swimming hole, relaxing and enjoying the day
Going into the water... A little deeper... deeper still, it's cold
Oh no, don't loose your balance and fall in.... found a rock to stand on
Great day
Finished it off, packing up so we can get an early start tomorrow
and watching the hockey game - Go Oilers Go
